Nice specs. I had started to research my next project system as well and then realized I didn't have the money to actually put the parts...oh well

TheOne... make SURE to upgrade your psu. Stock psu just won't do the job. Get a Corsair VX550W and you won't have power problems. Also make sure you get a zalman for your cpu. They look cool and do the job!
BTW, you should've just gotten 2x2GB sticks instead of 4x1GB for ram.
I would've chosen a board with dual x16 slots, but that's just me.
You could've waited for the 9800GTX to come out before selecting your video card =[

Plat is right, you will want to be careful and choose an appropriate PSU. Newer systems with high-end video cards suck up a lot of power. I have to disagree with Plat on the memory though. All things considered, 4x1gb should technically run faster than 2x2gb. Assuming the timings and everything match up in both instances. More than likely it would not be a noticeable difference, but if you're trying to squeeze out every ounce of performance for the buck then I think you made the right choice. I would, however, have looked for some RAM with a lower CAS level. Overall it looks like it will be a nice rig.

Most likely, you won't be using more than a gig of RAM at any given moment unless you like to run multiple users or multiple large programs so whether or not you have 4x1 or 2x2 is generally irrelevent most ot the time. Plus, the speed of your RAM is a much, much greater factor than if you're using 4x1 or 2x2, and the speed looks fine for rappelz at least. I only have 1.5 gigs of RAM on my computer and I run rappelz fine with little to no lag. If I do get lag, it's most likely remote and not my computer.
I agree with Plat on power supply. A lot of people neglect it because it doesn't seem like it matters that much as far as speed or storage capacity goes but it makes a ton of difference and a better one than stock won't overheat, as my sister's did and she began lightly melting her mother board on the edge but the whole thing turned off before any damage was done.
The 9800GTX would be better but somewhat overkill unless you were trying to run 3 games at once or something. 8800GT is fine. It's like getting a Ford Mustang GT to drive to work every day vs. a Ferrari to drive to work every day. Both work very, very well for your purposes even though one is way better.
Minor note, why do you need a terrabyte of HD? Or is one for a backup of the first?

BTW I want your opinion on Vista, cause by my experience it's crap and xp was way better.

lol to answer your question with vista for one you need it to run in 64 bit because xp-64 sucks and has like little to no drivers that work properly but it can be a pain in the ass at first to setup but once you turn off the "do you want to do this feature its okay"
my pc for the time being lol Manufacturer: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory: 4094MB RAM Hard Drive: 520 GB Total Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS Motherboard: Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4 Monitor: Westinghouse 22" wide screen Plug and Play Monitor Sound Card: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_gdr.070627-1500)
my next upgrade will be dual graphics cards not sure if i'll get the same one or 2 new ones as well as a new cpu fan so i can overclock

Running in 32-bit is going to be fine for a while still. Not perfect, but fine. In the close future, you're right. Running in 64-bit will be more necessary as games get more graphically complex. I already have a vista machine in my house I just like my xp better cause I've pimped it out a little. I also don't like the power consumption of vista. You need a much more powerful computer just to run the OS.
I'm curious though, what's the benefit of 2 GPUs? I haven't really figured out what the big draw for it is.

Thing about ram is... 2 GB is pretty much required these days (assuming you have vista) to run any kind of game. 4 GB is recommended, but seeing as how his motherboard is restricted to 4 slots, getting 2x2 is better for long-term expansion. That way you won't have to upgrade your motherboard in two years. (I hate resocketing the cpu the most, which is why I like to pick mobos that last)
Vista is MUCH better now that M$ released SP1. It should run as fast as XP does.
As for the graphics card... getting a 9800 will end up being better in the long run. Games are already sucking up so many resources that in a year or two you're going to need that extra power.
As for dual gpu systems, the main thing it does is the same as dual cpu. If a game is programmed to handle dual gpus, then it can effectively split the processing load between them. This allows for higher peak processing power AND allows the graphics cards to run cooler so you don't melt the heatsink off a single one or something crazy like that.

Thanks Plat and Demonic. I'm still a noob at this computer stuff and I'm trying to figure it out cause I'm gonna get a good comp in a year or two when my old computer just simply won't work anymore for what I use it for.
Right, lol forgot he had vista. Yea I think Plat is right and 2x2 would be better. I was thinking xp power consumption which takes significantly less RAM than vista does when I said you normally won't be over 1 gig of RAM. When I run rappelz, xfire, firewall, and the OS (all inclusive for drivers, sound, etc...), I use about 700MB of RAM (which is less than half of my total). Lol I actually recently upgraded I had 512 MB of RAM and then finally convinced my parents to let me upgrade their computer. You shoulda seen what it was like trying to run rappelz on paging file.

Oh god... 512 MB is soooo... like... last decade XD No seriously... They started putting 1-2GB memory sticks in practically every computer since around 2005, and only laptops had the 512 option.

Yea it was awful. The only thing saving me was duel 3.2 GHz processor and a good video card. I think it was the NX7600GS. Which was pretty much the best on the market when I got it.
